About me
I’m a North West and this was my first time as a Thicket Priory wedding photographer. I photograph weddings across the North West covering Manchester, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Lancashire, North Wales and the Lakes. My approach to wedding photography is a mix of relaxed documentary and fun creative portraiture.

Thicket Priory: A Photographer’s Dream
As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless love stories in a variety of stunning venues. But few have captivated me quite like Thicket Priory in York. This historic manor house, nestled amidst lush greenery, offers an unparalleled blend of elegance, charm, and natural beauty.
The moment I stepped foot on the grounds, I knew it was a photographer’s dream. The sprawling gardens, complete with manicured lawns, winding paths, and picturesque ponds, provide a seemingly endless array of stunning backdrops for portraits. The interior of the priory is equally impressive, boasting ornate details, antique furnishings, and a grand staircase that is simply breath-taking.

Outdoor Ceremonies at Thicket Priory
For couples seeking a truly unforgettable outdoor ceremony, Thicket Priory offers several idyllic options. The Cloister Garden, a secluded courtyard surrounded by ancient walls, provides a romantic and intimate setting for vows. Alternatively, the Rose Garden, with its vibrant blooms and gentle fragrance, creates a gorgeous backdrop for a summer celebration. And for those who desire a more rustic ambiance, the Orchard provides a charming and picturesque setting for a ceremony under the dappled shade of apple trees.
Whether you envision a traditional ceremony in the chapel or a modern reception in the Great Hall, Thicket Priory offers a versatile and adaptable space to accommodate your wedding vision. And with its expert staff and attention to detail, you can rest assured that every aspect of your day will be flawlessly executed.
2nd Shooting
This wedding was one of the many I have second shot this year and the second time working with Matthew and Kristina. This was a great opportunity to work at a new venue and I have to say, they Thicket Priory is gorgeous. I really enjoy second shooting as it gives me the chance to try things I wouldn’t normally try and shoot from different angles. It also means there is a lot less editing to do.

The Groom Prep
One of the big reasons to have a second photographer is more comprehensive cover of the groom’s prep. I introduced myself to the guys, and got started.
Thicket Priory Wedding Ceremony
I shot the wedding ceremony from the back so that I could operate a drone and keep an I on the camera that was filming them. It was a lovely outdoor ceremony which was enjoyed by all.
Wedding Reception at Thicket Priory
After the ceremony the bride and groom took some time to chat with their guests and enjoy some canapes.

Thicket Priory Couple Portrait
We took the couple for a walk around the grounds at Thicket Priory and created some lovely portraits.
Wedding breakfast and speeches
It was soon time to head back in for the speeches and food. The guests were all seated and then we were treated to the bridal party dancing in closely followed by the bride and groom.
There was more socialising and fun after the meal and the magician gave the couple a private show before we took them away for the second portrait session.
The second portrait session
For we second portrait session we took another walk around the grounds at Thicket Priory and explored a few areas we hadn’t before.
Cake Cutting and First dance
It wasn’t long before the couple took to the dance floor where they cut their cake and then danced their first dance to Iris by the Googoo Dolls. They were soon joined by all their friends and family for some dancing along with life music by an excellent live band.
Unfortunately I don’t have photos of the first dance as I was videoing that.
The Wedding Video
I put together a short video of the day with my footage. Enjoy.
Film camera photographs
This was another wedding where I shot some film photograph too, I hope you enjoy them.
