I’m a wedding photographer in the North West and my approach is a relaxed mix of documentary photography and creative portraits. I want all my couples to enjoy their wedding while I photograph their big day.
This was my third time as a Huntsman Inn wedding photographer and this one was extra special. I’ve know Hazel, the bride for around 15 years and photographed her on a few occasions. So, when she asked me to photograph her marriage to Sam, I was only to pleased to oblige. Their initial idea for the day was to do a couple’s shoot at Dovestones, before heading over to The Huntsman Inn for their ceremony. I worked out a special package for them as they didn’t want the full day covered and I gifted them the couple shoot at the reservoir as my wedding gift to them.
The Huntsman Inn

Digley Reservoir
As the heading suggests, our day didn’t actually start at Dovestones as we originally planned. Instead, Hazel and Sam wanted to go to the picturesque Digley reservoir for their shoot. While there, they did a reaveal before we got down to some family photographs. Reveals aren’t common in the UK but they are lovely. I arranged Sam so that he couldn’t see Hazel and Holly walking towards us then had him turn when she was near enough.
We did a few family shots down at the reservoir and some couple’s portraits.
After these, we headed up to a hillside overlooking the reservoir which also took in the beautiful views.
With the wedding portraits photography finished, we headed back to the Huntsman Inn for their wedding.
Huntsman Inn Wedding Ceremony
Back at the Huntsman Inn, there was a flurry of activity as things got ready for the wedding ceremony.
The guests were soon seated and Sam, the groom waited expectantly for Hazel to enter. The ceremony was beautiful, full of happiness. I did my usual thing of subtly capturing their wedding ceremony as they did the important bit of getting married.
Group Photos and Wedding Reception
After the ceremony, we all headed outside for the group photographs and after that I worked at capturing candid photos of their wedding guests enjoying the wedding reception in the Huntsman Inn gardens.
Speeches and Evening Reception at the Huntsman Inn
Before long, it was time for the guests to head inside and the newly married couple gave a short speech thanking their wedding guests for coming. They then settled in for a meal while I went into the restaurant for a meal of my own. Afterwards, I made sure to get some photographs of the dancing and the shot ski.
