Stanneylands Wedding Photographer

This was my first time as a Stanneylands Wedding Photographer, and for this wedding, I was second shooting for Katie Sidell.

Hello, let me introduce myself. I’m a Manchester-based wedding photographer who loves working in a relaxed, unobtrusive way. I cover the whole of the North West, including Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, The Lakes and North Wales.

The Stanneylands Hotel

The Stanneylands is a charming hotel in Wilmslow, Cheshire. I was really impressed by how helpful and friendly the staff are there, and the venue is fantastic. It’s surprising how close the place is to Manchester Airport, as it feels like you are in a small town in the countryside.

The rooms are well-appointed, and the food is delicious.

Rob and Gabriella

I can’t really say much about Gabriella, as I was at Stanneylands to cover the groom’s prep. I did meet her briefly, and I can say that she looked stunning!

When I arrived on the day, Rob, the groom, was the first to greet me. We met in the reception, and he kindly took me around to meet his groomsmen and family, who were still enjoying breakfast. They even forced me to sample a sausage bacon butty (I suffer for my art).

They wanted to get their suit trousers on before I started, so while they headed back to their room, I got some photographs of the venue.

Groom Prep

One of the groomsmen came to me and told me they were ready, so I headed to the room and began working.

They were all very friendly and helpful, so I was sure I would get lots of great shots. I started off with some detail shots of the essential details like shoes, suits and buttonholes, and of course, the rings.

The guys all worked together to get ready, and I’m glad I was there to cover this. There is usually a lovely camaraderie which you get at groom prep. When the fried group is strong there is a very similar feel to the bridal prep, just less Prosecco.

Thankyou Boxes

The bride and groom had a gift box for each of the groomsmen and Rob’s dad. These were a lovely mix of small, personal items along with a pocket watch each. Rob’s grandfather had an extensive collection, so they had each been able to choose one.

The Buttonholes

It’s almost guaranteed that the groom and his groomsmen will not know how to attach a buttonhole. My usual approach then is to let them all have a go so that I can photograph the attempt. Then, I will step in and help if needed. This was the first wedding where I had to do them all.

Group Shots

Once everyone was ready, we took a couple of shots inside and then headed out to get some group shots.

The guys looked really cool together, all suited and booted and again, I was struck by how helpful they were.

We got some great shots of them as a group and some smaller groups as well. It’s really important to get the groom and his best men (2 for this wedding) and the groom and his brothers and dad.

The Routemaster

To help their guests get to the church, Rob and Gabriella had hired an old red London double-decker. It was a fantastic vehicle, and their guests clearly loved it. The groom and his party certainly did.

Bramhall Methodist Church

The groom’s party headed over to the church, so I made sure I had everything, then headed over to the church as well.

I wanted to get a few shots of the church outside and in before it git busy. Then it was all down to shots of the guests arriving and interacting.

Before long, the bride arrived, and my work on this one was mostly done. What a fantastic groom prep this had been!
