My wedding photography services are a mix of informal documentary coverage and relaxed and fun portraits, and the Mere Court Hotel is a perfect venue for this. The grounds provide a colourful backdrop for natural photos during the wedding reception, and the bright ceremony room is an excellent space for exchanging vows (in flattering natural light). I loved being able to capture some cute wedding photos of the couple in the landscaped gardens of this gorgeous Cheshire wedding venue.
Mere Court the Venue
Mere Court Hotel is a great place to spend your wedding day. An Edwardian country house originally built as a wedding present in 1903, it has immaculate grounds and great rooms with lots of light. The indoor room used for ceremonies is spacious and bright, and a large lawn that can host outdoor wedding ceremonies, too. The food was excellent, and the staff friendly. No wonder this is an award-winning wedding venue.

The Happy Couple: Rachel and Laura
The wedding at Mere Court of Rachel and Laura was the first same-sex wedding I ever shot, and it was great fun. Have a read about my thoughts and advice on same-sex weddings. I also talk about same-sex wedding photography in the post.
They had booked two photographers for their wedding photos as they were getting ready at different venues. I was to cover Rachel’s prep at Mere Court, and my second covered Laura. There was the usual fun as all the ladies got ready and a few pastries to snaffle, and then it was on to the ceremony. Because there were two brides and they both wanted to walk down the aisle, they had arranged for there to be two side aisles to walk down with their fathers at the same time and the centre aisle for afterwards.
The whole wedding day was a pleasure to shoot, and Rachel and Laura made my second. I felt very welcome on their special day, and they were both amazing. I’ve even met them at a couple of weddings since.
Rachel got ready for her Mere Court Hotel Wedding in one of Mere Court Hotel’s spacious rooms. So, even though there were a few ladies in her bridal party, the wedding photography never felt cramped.

Mere Court Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony took place in the spacious, bright ceremony room at Mere Court Hotel. Watched by their friends and family. It really is the perfect place if it rains on your wedding day.

Mere Court Wedding Reception
After the wedding ceremony, we headed outside into the beautifully landscaped gardens for some group shots. Once these were done, I took Rachel and Laura around Mere Court Hotel’s grounds for their couple portraits. This is a lovely part of their wedding day because it gives them some alone time, even with me shooting their wedding photography.

Couple Portraits at Mere Court
Mere Court Hotel wedding photography is a pleasure when the place is so beautiful, and you have a couple who love posing.

The Wedding Breakfast
The speeches and meal were a time for fun, and the kind words brought tears of joy and happiness. After the meal, the guests took the time to play in Mere Court Hotel’s outdoor ceremony area, and the kids were fascinated by Mere Court’s private lake. These all add to the memories of the special day when the couple looks back at their wedding photos.

While the children were playing outside, the grownups were playing inside. I really enjoyed photographing the games of beer pong. After this, they planned to cut their wedding cake and lead straight into their first dance.

The first dance was a beautiful way to cap off their special day. Rachel even changed into her personalised wedding Converse before hitting the dance floor. I’ll never forget photographing the Mere Court wedding of Rachel and Laura. It truly was a fantastic wedding!

I hope you enjoyed seeing Rachel and Laura’s Mere Court wedding photography.
