Photographing An Evening Wedding at Grains Bar

I’m a North West wedding photographer who loves his job. I have many venues I enjoy working at, but around here, Grains Bar in Oldham is one of my favourites. So, photographing an evening wedding at Grains Bar on behalf of Inkin Photography was a definite as soon as she asked.

Amanda from Inkedin had a commitment in the evening, so she asked me to cover from the speeches all the way to the first dance.

Wedding Breakfast at Grains Bar

I arrived about 10 minutes before the wedding breakfast was due to start. We said hello to Rosie and Connor and got setup ready for them to begin. I focused on the main table while my son concentrated on the guests.

Cigars

After the speeches were done, Connor headed outside with his groomsmen to enjoy so fine cigars together.

They had forgotten a cutter, so they had to borrow my multitool to cut them. Weddings don’t see as many cigars as they used to, but they can make for some great photographs.

After I finished getting the shots I wanted with them I headed back inside and was happy to see Grains Bar’s peacock.

I then headed inside to see what was happening.

Wedding Reception at Grains Bar

Inside, the guests were having a great time chatting, taking photos and wearing fun props.

The ceremony room has recently been renovated and extended. The chairs had been cleared, and I too the opportunity to do a few indoor portraits with the married couple.

Cutting of the Cake and First Dance

The cake cut and the first dance were the final formal parts of the day. The cake couldn’t be moved, so it was cut where it was.

Then the couple took to the dance floor, and their friends and family soon joined them.

Final Portraits at Grains Bar

The light was better now for portraits so I took Rosie and Connor to a hillside which overlooks Manchester for the first photos.

Then we headed back to Grains Bar for some fun with the outdoor lighting.

You probably noticed that our shoot was crashed by some of their friends who wanted a shot in the walkway, too. All in good fun, of course.

I was really glad Grains Bar recommended me to Inkin to cover the evening part of the wedding. Photographing an evening wedding at Grains Bar was fun, especially with such a cool and engaging couple.
