Briars Hall Wedding Photographer

I’m a wedding photographer who loves capturing the natural moments of a wedding day. I want my photos to tell the story of the couple’s love, from the first look to the last dance. And Briars Hall Hotel in Ormskirk is the perfect place to do just that.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Briars Hall Hotel. The couple was so relaxed and in love, and it was clear that they were having the time of their lives. I loved being able to capture some great wedding photos of them in the large gardens of this gorgeous wedding venue.

Briars Hall Hotel

Briars Hall Hotel is a stunning 18th-century country house hotel located in the heart of the Wirral. The hotel is set in five acres of beautiful gardens, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Briars Hall Hotel is the perfect venue for a wedding, with various spaces to choose from. The hotel has a capacity of up to 200 guests, and there are several different rooms available, including the Orangery, the Ellerbook Suite, and the Ballroom.

The Orangery is a beautiful room with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. The Ellerbook Suite is a more intimate room perfect for smaller weddings. The Ballroom is the largest room in the hotel, and it is perfect for large weddings or receptions.

Morning Wedding Prep at Briars Hall

I arrived on the wedding morning to find the prep in full swing. The ladies were in one of the downstairs rooms having their hair and makeup done while the guys were at the top of the hotel in a swelteringly hot room.

It’s always best to say hello to everyone before breaking out my cameras, so after I did this I was good to start.

I spent some time with the groom and his party upstairs, getting shots with them as well.

After my time with the guys, I rejoined the bridal party for the fastening of her dress. Once Nicola’s dress was fastened, I did some shots with the ladies and photographed her reveal to her dad. He couldn’t get up to her room, so she came down to him.

Briars Hall Wedding Ceremony

With everyone ready, I headed outside to await the bride. The ceremony was a lovely affair, and as always, with outdoor ceremonies, I really enjoyed it. Outdoor ceremonies are special and allow a greater connection to nature and let me really get around the wedding to shoot it without being in anyone’s way.

After the ceremony, we arranged for the guests to shower the couple with confetti as they walked back down the aisle together. They were then given drinks before we moved onto the group shots.

Briars Hall Couple Portraits

At most weddings, I do two or three portrait sessions. The first one is usually between the wedding ceremony and the wedding breakfast. This session is mostly done with natural light though I do use some flask to fill any hard shadows.

As you can see, these shots are a mix of artistic and minimally posed. These give you a great variety for your album and to share with friends and family.

Wedding Reception and Wedding Breakfast

The reception and wedding breakfast were held inside, and the room had been expertly dressed. The speeches were to be after the meal and the couple were kind enough to provide me with a meal. The food was delicious!

The speeches were fairly short and well-delivered. There seems to be a trend for shorter speeches at the moment.

Second Portrait Session

For the second portrait session, we wanted to use the gazebo they used for their wedding ceremony. There was some time before their evening guests were due to arrive. I used this time and one of their guests to set up the lighting I would need then when it was ready, I bought the couple out. Here is one of the shots:

Cake Cutting and the First Dance

All that was left to do was cut the cake and the first dance. The cake was moved onto the dancefloor, so I grabbed a few shots of it to make sure my lights were ready before the DJ called the couple onto the floor, where they cut the cake, which was then quickly removed to make room for the dancing.

Soon, the couple invited their guests to join them, and the floor was soon busy.

I had a great day as a Briars Hall wedding photographer and look forward to working there again.
