Castlefield Rooms
Castlefield Rooms is a unique and stylish wedding venue in the heart of Manchester city centre. Located in the historic Castlefield Conservation Area, it offers couples a chance to celebrate their special day surrounded by stunning industrial heritage and beautiful canalside scenery.
The venue itself is a converted Victorian warehouse, which has been tastefully restored to retain its original charm and character. The exposed brickwork, wooden beams, and floor-to-ceiling windows create a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for any wedding style.
Castlefield Rooms has a number of spaces available for weddings, including a spacious ceremony room, a reception room with a dance floor, and a bar area. The venue can accommodate up to 150 guests for a seated ceremony and reception, making it ideal for both small and large weddings.
One of the things that makes Castlefield Rooms such a popular wedding venue is its versatility. The room can be easily transformed to suit any taste, from a rustic country wedding to a glamorous black-tie event. The venue’s experienced team of event planners are on hand to help couples create their dream wedding. They can take care of everything from the catering to the décor.
Another great thing about Castlefield Rooms is its location. Situated in the heart of Manchester city centre, just a short walk from many of the city’s top attractions, including the Manchester Arena, the Etihad Stadium, and the Trafford Centre. This makes it easy for guests to travel to and from the venue. It also gives couples plenty of options for pre- and post-wedding celebrations.
If you are a wedding photographer, then Castlefield Rooms is a great venue to work with. The venue’s unique industrial heritage and beautiful canalside setting offer numerous opportunities for stunning wedding photos. The venue’s team are also very accommodating to photographers. Happy to provide access to all areas of the venue.

Anna and Ian
Anna and Ian contacted me in December last year looking for a photographer to work with them for a bespoke package. They wanted something a bit different, not wanting their wedding ceremony covered, but they did want an engagement shoot with their dachshund. Then, their party at the Castlefield Rooms.
As such, there would be no wedding breakfast, speeches or first dance. There was an evening reception with their friends and family.
Anna was still planning on the white wedding dress. She also had three bridesmaids who were all getting ready at the Hilton on Deansgate.
The couple have many friends but prefer to keep things quieter, so the Brindley Room was perfect for them.

Manchester Wedding Day
The big day started with a drive into Manchester city centre, where I planned on parking at the Castlefield rooms. They are great with wedding photographers and let me park there all day. So, having registered my car, I walked back along the picturesque cobbled streets, passing under the railway bridges and onto the Hilton. It is only a little walk.
I asked the receptionist to phone up for me, and Rachel, one of the bridesmaids, took me up to where the bride was getting ready.
Wedding Prep
Hair and make up were in full swing, and Anna had thoughtfully hung her dress up in front of the floor-to-ceiling window with a fantastic view of Manchester behind.

She had also laid out her shoes and details to make it all easier for me. This planning and thoughtfulness can really help me get you the best photos.
On looking out the window, I realised we had a birds-eye view of the Castlefield Rooms, the canals and the green space around the Castlefield area. I don’t like to use drones in the city centre, so this was an alternative way to get an aerial photograph of the wedding venue.

Once Anna was ready, we organised a first look, seeing as the bride and groom were already married. The first look is very unusual in the UK, and it was a pleasure to do one finally. I coached them both on the best way to get the photos they wanted and then they went for it.

Now it was time for the wedding reception.

Castlefield Rooms Wedding Photographer
I walked back to the Castlefield Rooms and into the Brindley suite. The room was just finishing being set up, and the florist was arranging her flowers. They had dressed the room beautifully, and it really was the perfect wedding venue. I took photos of the setup while waiting for Anna and Ian to arrive.

Once they did, we started with the portraits.
Couple Portraits at the Castlefield Rooms
You’re spoiled for choice on locations, when thinking of Castlefield Rooms wedding photography. This area of Manchester makes it a unique location for an urban portrait. We walked down to the canal and then past the Castlefield Rooms for some shots underneath the railway arches.
Having already worked with them on their pre-wedding shoot, I knew how to get them best portraits.

Group Photos
We spent quite a while getting the different group photos they wanted. I mainly took these on the steps outside the Castlefield Rooms. We did take the bridal party for a bit of a walk around, too, though.

Castlefield Rooms Wedding Reception
I spent the rest of the day photographing their guests, interacting and having fun. I kept shooting all the way up to the buffet at half-nine.

We did, of course, make time for some nighttime wedding photography.
