As a wedding photographer, my style is a mix of informal documentary coverage and relaxed and fun portraits. My wedding photography style is a mix of informal documentary coverage and relaxed and fun portraits, and Rivington Hall Barn is a perfect venue for this. The beautiful grounds provide a colourful backdrop for natural photos during the reception, and the wedding ceremony space is a beautiful room for exchanging vows. I loved being able to capture some great wedding photos of the couple in the extensive gardens of this gorgeous wedding venue.
Rivington Hall Barn weddings are great. It is a beautiful place in the North West and surrounded by glorious locations. The staff are excellent and really make you feel welcome. There is a real family-run ethos to the place. A special shout out to the master of ceremonies Pat, who really makes the special day so much fun and keeps it running smoothly. He provides a welcoming and friendly service.

Sarah and Gary’s Rivington Hall Barn Wedding
Sarah got ready for her wedding day at a local hotel and headed over to Rivington for the rest of the day. I met my unofficial second of the day, Kirstie, at the hotel. Kirsty was just learning to be a wedding photographer at the time. Together, we captured the wedding prep then we headed straight off to Rivington Hall Barn.

We grabbed a few shots of Rivington Hall Barn, then met with Garry and his guests, ready for Sarah’s arrival. We planned our positions and were all ready.
You could see Gary was nervous as he waited with his best man, but he held it together. They didn’t have long to wait. The room was done up beautifully, and the guests were seated. Sarah arrived, and the ceremony went beautifully. Gary may have started his big day nervous, but he was dancing with joy rather than walking down the aisle with his new bride.

After the wedding ceremony, there were canapes, drinks and music and, of course, lots of opportunities for candid photos. These are always some of my favourites, as you can get genuine, happy moments for the couple to see later. Sarah and Gary took off in their limo for a ride around on their own. Then, when they returned, it was on to the group shots.

Gary clearly wasn’t a fan of lots of group shots. But Sarah had her list and cajoled him to get them all done. This is why I always encourage couples to talk about what group shots they want and let them know how long it should take.
I love photographing weddings that are at one venue; it makes it a lot easier for the guests and family. So while the guests were outside, the venue turned the room around for the wedding reception.
We took them for some couple portraits, then it was straight into the wedding breakfast and speeches.

The ceremony area had been turned around and was looking stunning. With the impressive original beams wrapped in fairy lights and draped with fabrics. It’s a grade II listed building, so has to be treated carefully.
With the guests all seated, Pat brought in the top table. They came dancing into Rivington Hall Barn in pairs—something I’ve only seen at a couple of weddings and absolutely love as a wedding photographer.

These were great, and there were some fun games led by Pat, which all at Rivington Hall Barn thoroughly enjoyed. After the wedding breakfast, I took Sarah and Gary back outside for a few more portraits. The light had really improved.

Creating couple portraits in the lovely Lancashire countryside that surrounds Rivington Hall barn was a pleasure. The couple enjoyed a few quiet moments away from the wedding venue before the evening party started.

The first dance was fantastic. I’ve seen confetti first dances before, but Rivington has confetti launchers built-in above the dance floor. They take the first dance to another level. I created some great work photographing their first dance at Rivington Hall Barn.

After their dance, they partied for a while with their guests. I got some shots of the dancing then took Kirstie outside with me to set up for one final shot. The entrance to Rivington Hall Barn was perfect for an off-camera flash silhouette portrait. I got everything ready then brought the happy couple out and got the shot I wanted in about 1 minute. Then we said our goodbyes and headed off.

Capturing Sarah and Gary’s Rivington Hall Barn Wedding Photography was such a pleasure. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole wedding day. Such a fantastic wedding!
