I’m not entirely certain when this Ashton Golf Club wedding was originally meant to happen. I think it was this time last year, and I know the couple booked me at the beginning of 2020, and I’m sure you know what that means.
Rachel had booked me in for my relaxed and fun approach to wedding photography, and we got on really well from the start. We even had a few good chats over lockdown as we coordinated wedding moves.

Paul and Rachel wanted my shorter day package so booked me to photograph from their church ceremony up to the first dance.
St John the Baptist Church Wedding Ceremony

I arrived before anyone else, even the vicar so I had a chance for a bit of a look around. Before long the groom and his groomsmen arrived. They’d wanted a few pictures so we did those then I left Paul to greet his guests and family and had fun capturing their interactions.

The ceremony itself was beautiful. The vicar was fun and really made the wedding about the couple. One funny moment was the flower girl coming and sitting next to him whilst he was speaking. He just acknowledged her and carried on.

After the ceremony we got the guests lined up and managed to get some fun confetti shots done, even though the wind had picked up.

Wedding Reception at Ashton-Under-Lyne Golf Club
Their reception was only ten minutes away. I headed over there to quickly set up my gear, get a few room shots and be ready for their arrival. When Rachel, Paul and their guests did arrive they all grabbed a drink and had some time to chat before group shots.

There were quite a few of these but we got through them surprisingly quickly and had plenty of time for some couple portraits.

Wedding Breakfast and Speeches
After the portraits, it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The meal was superb and I managed to get mine eaten in time for the speeches.
Normally, I don’t use lighting for speeches but with there being large windows behind the top table I did so for this wedding. The speeches were short and heartfelt, and enjoyed by all.

Mingling Time
After the meal was done, most everyone headed outside to enjoy the sunshine. I had a lot of fun photographing and talking to the guests. I even managed to get a few more couple shots in and do some with my drone.

Cake Cutting and First Dance
As their evening guests arrived I knew it wouldn’t be long until their first dance. This was done in the usual manner of cutting the cake and then straight into their first dance. After, there was plenty of dancing on the dancefloor.

It was a really lovely day with Rachel and Paul and I’m looking forward to working on the rest of their photos.
