Janice and Les were married at Dukinfield Town Hall in a small ceremony followed by their party at Oaklands Hall. I photograph quite a few small weddings at Dukinfield as it’s very local to me and a lovely registry office. This was also my second Oaklands Hall Wedding. Why am I conflating the two? Well, Janice and Les were restricted to a small ceremony and wanted their friends to be a part of it. So they arranged for a celebrant to hold a candle lighting ceremony at Oaklands.
Janice a Les are a lovely mature couple who wanted their day to be right for them. The main thing for them was to have their friends involved and what a lovely group of friends they have. You can see all the smiles in the photos.
The Day
Janice booked me to cover their ceremony and reception but unfortunately, the rules at Dukinfield Town Hall would not allow me in the ceremony room. I’ve recently picked up a GoPro 9 for some of my film work so I set that up to record their ceremony instead and I also took photos before and after. They have some lovely grandchildren so there was plenty of energy to play with.
After the ceremony, we went on to their Oaklands Hall Wedding where the second ceremony took place. It was a touching ceremony which their guests enjoyed then there were speeches and a delicious meal.
They also raised money for Christie’s and over one thousand pounds was donated! All in all, it was an amazing day.
Kit
At this wedding, I was playing with 2 different bits of kit from usual. My new GoPro 9 and a very old Tokina 50mm f1.7. The GoPro is amazing and something which I’ll have to hand at most jobs as it’s really versatile and the picture quality is fairly great.
The 50mm is one that I enjoy playing with. For an old cheap lens, it has some really nice characteristics. I think I’m going to get a few old lenses to play with. There may be a blog about them eventually.
