The Huntsman Inn Wedding Photography

My wedding photography style is a mix of informal documentary coverage and relaxed and fun portraits, and The Huntsman Inn is a great venue for this. The grounds provide a colourful backdrop for natural photos during the wedding reception, and the ceremony area is bright with views across the rolling fields. I loved being able to capture some great wedding photos of the happy couple in the gardens of this cosy wedding venue.

This was my second wedding at the Huntsman Inn in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. This time for the wedding of Lindsay and Carl. The Huntsman Inn is a lovely little venue with a really great ceremony/function room and a fantastic, friendly staff. There are rolling fields and beautiful scenery all around, giving you some great options for wedding photography. A Huntsman Inn wedding is really special and perfect for small to medium celebrations.

The Hunstman Inn for the wedding of Lindsay and Carl

The last time I photographed a wedding at the Hunstman Inn, I was working with a couple who I found out were neighbours after they had booked me. This time, it was almost the same when I found that one of the bridal party lives two doors down from me.

Lindsay and Carl’s Wedding at The Huntsman Inn

Lindsay and Carl booked me via my website, and we got on straight away. Carl asked me to share my previous Hunstman Inn Wedding with them, and they loved my work and seeing how the venue would look for them.

I started the wedding photography outside the Huntsman Inn with a few shots of the venue, then headed up to Lindsay’s room for the bridal prep.

We spotted Carl arriving through the window, so I popped downstairs to the bar at the Hunstan Inn when Carl and his best man arrived so that I could get some shots of them together and have a look at the wedding cake and ceremony room. When all was ready, I headed back downstairs to the ceremony room in the Huntsman Inn and waited with Carl and his guests for Lindsay to arrive.

The ceremony room at the Hunstman Inn is a good size. So there wasn’t much restriction on the number of guests allowed.

Wedding Reception at the Huntsman Inn

After the ceremony, a lot of the wedding day was spent in the Huntsman Inn’s garden, which is where we did the group photos.

By this time, the Huntsman Inn had turned around the ceremony room, ready for the speeches and wedding breakfast. This is a part of wedding photography that can be difficult if the speeches are dull. Once you’ve got one or two shots of the speaker, it’s important to get guests reacting to the speeches. At least, that is what I focus on with my wedding photography.

Fortunately, the speeches were light and fun, and everyone enjoyed them. The Huntsman Inn staff then brought out the guests’ meals and I headed into the separate bar area for a break and some food. Lindsay had told me I could order what I wanted from the Huntsman Inn’s menu so I had a lovely steak pie and a coffee to keep me going.

Couple Portaits

After the wedding breakfast was finished, the light was really lovely, so I took the happy couple outside for some portraits. The options for doing Huntsman Inn wedding photography on the grounds aren’t many, but there are some areas nearby you can take the couple if they want more creative wedding photography.

Carl and Lindsay wanted their wedding photography to be a relaxed affair, so we stayed on-site and got some beautiful portraits there.

Then it was time to chill in the Hunstman Inn’s garden again while the room got turned around for the evening and the DJ set up. Lindsay and Carl wanted a bit of music on their wedding day even when they were outside, so the DJ was kind enough to set up a speaker just outside. It was kept relatively quiet so as not to upset the Hunstman Inn’s neighbours, but there aren’t any really close, so that was easy.

The Evening Reception

The rain started after a while so we came back inside ready for the evening wedding reception to start and the extra guests to arrive.

The day finished with the traditional wedding cake cutting and Lindsay and Carl taking to the dance floor for their first dance. It was just a shame their friends at this time couldn’t join them on the dance floor. The energy of everyone dancing always adds to the wedding photography of the day.

If you are thinking of having your wedding day at the Huntsman Inn Holmfirth then I would highly recommend it. Even better, get in touch with me to book your wedding photography.
