Stirk House Hotel Wedding Photography

Stirk House Weddings

My wedding photography style is a mix of informal documentary coverage and relaxed, fun portraits. Stirk House Hotel is the perfect place for this. Stirk House is a beautiful building with pretty landscaped gardens and rustic woodland, perfect for photos during the wedding day. The wedding ceremony room has large skylights allowing plenty of light.

Stirk House is located in Gisburn, Clitheroe Lancashire in the Ribble Valley. A building from the 1600s, it is immaculately maintained and run by a great team of people. The buildings are beautiful and surrounded by stunning green fields which make Stirk House weddings amazing. This venue is so good, they even won the 2019 Great Northern Wedding Award for the best wedding venue.

Sianne and Mark

Sianne and Mark were a great couple to work with. Easy going and no stress all day.

I arrived nice and early on the special day for a good look around the venue to plan possible shot locations for later.

The flower girls were adorable and fully enjoying the special day.

Once ready, Sianne headed down with her bridal party and her very proud dad. There is a lovely walkway that leads to the ceremony room which has a wall covered in ivy and lit with fairy lights.

Stirk House Wedding Ceremony

Mark was in the ceremony room with his best man, ready for Sianne to enter so their Stirk House wedding could begin.

Groom at Stirk House Hotel

The ceremony went beautifully and I loved that Sianne wore a veil over her face for Mark to lift. This is becoming less common at weddings. Then it was time for the drinks reception and group photos.

Dave helped organise the group shots and corral the guests and we used the rolling hills as a perfect backdrop for the group shots. Those done I took the bride and groom for a few portraits then it was time for the wedding breakfast.

I knew they were Manchester City fans but was very amused and impressed with the carpet they’d sourced for the aisle in the ceremony and there was a signed shirt as a gift to them both.

Then it was time for some partying and dancing. They had added to their big day with a mechanical surfboard from a creative events company. The adults had great fun on it but the kids really showed them how it’s done. I also made sure I got a few shots of their dogs who they’d involved in their day. Stirk House wedding photography is already fun and it’s even better with surfboards and dogs.

Then it was time for their cake cutting and first dance. They had great fun dancing, first just the two of them then with their friends joining in.

I finished off their wedding at Stirk House with a few bride and groom portraits outside. I even gelled the lights for some shots to have a slight blue tinge. – all thanks to the wedding planning.

Stirk House is a great wedding venue and I look forward to shooting some more weddings here. If you’re planning your Stirk House wedding photography then I would love to hear from you.
