Welcome. I’m a wedding photographer based in Manchester and I cover North West UK including Cheshire, Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, The Lakes and North Wales. My approach to wedding photography is a mix of documentary and creative portraiture. I specialise in helping couples relax in front of the camera so that you get the photographs you want. Today’s shoot was a new one for me; Manchester University engagement photography.

Today’s couple was sent my way by Karen Julia Photography and I’m very glad she recommended me. Jash and Hrushika are a lovely couple and it was a great pleasure working with them. They met while studying at the University of Manchester which is why they wanted to have their engagement shoot there. They will be married later in the year in Gujarat – I wish I could photograph that for them, too.

Manchester University Engagement Photography
As I said above, the University of Manchester is special to Hrushika and Jash due to them studying and meeting there, so it was important to them that we got lots of photographs around the University grounds. We started just across the street outside the main entrance on Oxford Road so that we could have the building as a backdrop.

The Queen’s Arch
Once we had some photographs in front of the university, I crossed the road so that we could get some more photos in the Queen’s Arch.

The Old Quadrangle
We then continued into the Old Quadrangle where I used a mixture of natural light and off camera flash to get some great engagement photographs.

Faculty of Art
We had timed the shoot perfectly so that the evening sunlight was beautiful and the golden light was catching the Faculty of Art just right. It looked very dramatic with the greyer skies behind it.

Alan Gilbert Square
Outside the Faculty of Arts is the Alan Gilbert Square, which has some beautiful gardens which we made the most of.

Lime Grove
We then walked back along Lime Grove to Oxford Road and stopped to create a few more engagement portraits on the way which were a mixture of natural light and off-camera-flash.

Brunswick street Queen’s Arch
We headed back along Oxford Road for a few more shots near the main entrance now that the light had changed.

Whitworth Art Gallery and Park
Finally, we walked to the Whitworth park for some last portraits there and outside the art gallery. These last photographs I particularly enjoyed creating.

Photographing this engagement session was an honour and I really enjoyed working with the couple. I can’t wait to see their wedding photos.
