The White Hart Inn

The White Hart is an 18th-century building built by the Buckley Family in Lydgate, West Yorkshire. It has had various purposes over the years, from being a jail to a lookout point during the war. In the 1990s, it was converted into a pub and, later, a wedding venue. Today, it is the perfect place to make your vows. You’re surrounded by all the glory that is the Yorkshire countryside.

The ceremony room is large and bright, and this can be later turned around for your venue. There are three rooms you can use for your wedding, and outside there are beautiful gardens. There is space inside and out for your photographs, and nearby, there are plenty of locations for your portraits.

Karina and Oliver

Karina booked me for her October wedding earlier in the year. She and Oliver were planning to have a quiet ceremony during the week and then their reception at the White Hart at the weekend. She booked me for my candid approach and wanted lots of shots of her friends and family just enjoying the wedding day. They also wanted an album, which is another service I provide.

The Big Day

On the wedding day, I arrived at the White Hart Inn and went looking for the couple. They were still getting ready, so I made sure to get some shots of the venue and, of course, their guests outside having fun.

live Music

Inside, there was live music performed for the guests by a very talented guitarist (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten), and before long, Oliver joined us.

Then it was more of capturing the guests enjoying the day together while they waited for the couple to appear.

Arrival of the Bride and Groom

Karina and Oliver soon arrived and greeted their guests, then thanked everyone for coming.

Group and Couple Photographs at the white Hart inn

While the light was good, we headed outside for the group photographs, and then I took the couple for their first portrait session. I like to break the portrait sessions up into a couple of shorter sessions. This gives the couple more time with the guests and more varied final portraits.

Speeches

The speeches were kept brief and were lovely; then, people were invited to get food from the buffet. They’d also asked me to get some food so I took the opportunity to refuel before getting more photographs.

The Second Couple’s Portrait session

With the food finished and the light just right, we headed out for some more creative portraits.

Back at the White Hart, there was more talk and laughter.

Cake Cutting

Before long, it was time for the cutting of the cake before they moved on to the first dance. I’d set up a single light in this area with the others positioned on the dance floor, ready for the first dance.

The First Dance and Partying

Karina and Oliver headed over to the dance floor while the cake was taken away for cutting. Their first dance was lovely, and soon they were joined by friends and family on the dance floor. There was plenty of fun to be had, including a foosball table.

I had a really enjoyable day with Karina and Oliver at the White Hart Inn, and I look forward to working there again.
