I’m a North West wedding photographer who is based in Manchester. The Lake District is one of the places I love to work in, though, so I am more than happy to travel for the right couple and venue, which is why I found myself as the Brantford wedding photographer on this glorious day.
I have a laid-back and fun style, strongly believing that the day should be about you as a couple enjoying yourselves. Therefore, most of my work as a wedding photographer is candid, though I do like to throw in some creative portraiture too.

Brantwood
Brantwood Coniston is a historic house museum in Cumbria, England, overlooking Coniston. Originally built in the late 18th century by Thomas Woodville, and has been the home of several prominent people, including Josiah Hudson, father of Charles Hudson, who was an Anglican priest and an early mountaineer.
In 1871, John Ruskin purchased the property. John Ruskin was a famous Victorian writer, artist, and social reformer. Ruskin lived at Brantwood until he died in 1900, and during his time there, he made extensive renovations to the house, adding a turret room, a library, and many other rooms.
He also filled the house with his collection of art treasures, including Medieval manuscripts, Pre-Raphaelite paintings, Turner watercolours, and his fabulous mineral collection.

After Ruskin’s death, Brantwood was inherited by his niece, Margaret Ruskin. She lived there until she died in 1933, after which the house was bequeathed to the National Trust. The Trust opened Brantwood to the public as a museum in 1951, and it is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Lake District.
Still furnished much as it was when Ruskin lived there, the house is little changed, and visitors can see his study, bedroom, and library. There are also exhibits on Ruskin’s life and work, as well as the history of Brantwood.
The grounds of Brantwood are also beautiful, and there are walking trails, a boathouse, and a tearoom. These all go together to make it a unique and beautiful Lake District wedding venue.

Brantwood Wedding Day
The day of the wedding dawned bright and sunny, with a perfect blue sky and just a few puffy white clouds. The drive up through the Lake District had been an absolute pleasure.
I arrived at Brantwood early to scout the location and get some shots of the grounds. The house perches on a hill overlooking Coniston, and the views are absolutely stunning. There are gardens on the grounds, as well as a boathouse and a jetty.
The couple were already at Brantwood, and Ameilia was taking pictures of them getting ready. Amelia was the main wedding photographer.
The bride-to-be was wearing a beautiful white dress with a long train, and the groom was a cool blue suit. They were both so happy and excited, and it was clear that they were in love.

Brantwood Wedding Ceremony
The drawing room of Brantwood was perfect for the wedding ceremony, and it was a small and intimate affair. The couple exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends, and it was a very moving ceremony.

After the ceremony, we photographed the couple with their families and friends.

Couple Portraits at Brantwood Coniston
After the group photographs, we headed to the gardens and jetty for couple portraits. The gardens are stunning and the perfect backdrop for your portraits, with such beautiful flowers.

A Trip on the Steam Yacht Gondola
The guests soon joined us for a boat trip on Coniston. The weather was perfect, and the views from the yacht were amazing.
We cruised around the lake for about an hour, and it was a great way to relax and enjoy the scenery. The captain even invited the couple onto the bridge for a turn piloting Gondola.
Trips like this are something that wedding photographers love and are what the Lake District is famous for.

After the boat trip, we returned to Brantwood for the reception.
The guests headed back up to Brantwood while we remained on the jetty to make the most of the light.

Brantwood Wedding Reception
The reception was held in the dining room, and it was a festive affair. The guests enjoyed the wedding breakfast, and the food was delicious, the drinks were flowing, and the music was playing.

First Dance at Brantwood
After the wedding breakfast and speeches, the guests took some time to chat and have fun.
Before long, it was time for the first dance, and the couple took to the floor while their friends and family looked on. They were joined on the dancefloor by their guests.
Everyone danced the night away, and it was a truly memorable evening. They even had a tiny dancing sheep.

I had a wonderful time photographing the intimate wedding at Brantwood. It was a perfect day, the couple were lovely, and the guests were all so happy. It was a truly special day, and I am so glad that I was able to capture it on film.
I took many photos at the wedding, including the couple portraits, the ceremony, the boat trip, and the reception.
The Lake District has some of the best wedding venues in the world, and I hope you enjoy this selection of photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. I love being a wedding photographer!
