Castle Green Wedding Photographer

As a Castle Green wedding photographer, I love working with fun, relaxed couples who want to get married at a beautiful location.

I cover weddings throughout the North West, including the Lake District, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and beyond. My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive, preferring to capture your day as it unfolds, getting all those little moments that build to give you the best memories of your Lake District wedding.

The Castle Green Hotel

Castle Green Hotel is a four-star hotel located in the market town of Kendal in the Lake District National Park. The hotel is set in 14 acres of gardens and woodlands and offers stunning views of Kendal Castle and the surrounding fells. Perfect for your wedding photos.

The hotel has 99 bedrooms, including two Herdwick Suites, four Executive Suites, and seven balcony rooms. All of the bedrooms are en suite and have been recently refurbished to a high standard which look great in photos. The hotel has several meeting and banqueting facilities, a spa and health club, and a traditional pub.

The hotel’s restaurant, The Castle Green, serves modern British cuisine using fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant has a reputation for excellent food and service and has been awarded many accolades, including a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide.

Castle Green Hotel is a popular choice for both leisure and business guests. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day exploring the Lake District or to host a wedding.

Groom Prep

Rob Georgeson booked me onto this wedding to cover groom prep, so I met up with the groom’s party in the bar while Rob was covering the bridal prep.

All the guys were at Castle Green and were waiting for the groom to turn up. He was delayed but not drastically. As usual, as well as photographing proceedings, I also had to give some tips on attaching buttonholes.

Castle Green Wedding Ceremony

The couple had decided to hold their wedding in the beautiful grounds at Castle Green. The hotel dressed the are, so when it was ready, I popped out to photograph it. I also said hello to the pianist as she was setting up.

I really love photographing wedding ceremonies outside. There is lots of space to really work around the wedding and capture the beauty of the moment.

The guests came down to the ceremony area, and when they were ready, the bridal party walked down for the wedding.

Drinks and Mingling

After the wedding ceremony, the guests enjoyed the scenic grounds. Talking, laughing and congratulating the newly married couple.

The kids loved the grounds and seemed quite taken with the apples growing there.

Group Shots at Castle Green Hotel

While Rob got to work on the group shots, I made sure to cover the guests having fun and also went into the reception room to photograph the setup.

Couple Portraits

By this time, Rob had finished the group photos so we took the bride and groom for their Castle Green wedding portraits.

This was the first of two portrait sessions we would do with the couple.

Wedding Breakfast

While we were with the couple, the staff had moved everyone into the room for the wedding breakfast.

The DJ had the bridesmaids and groomsmen dance into the room before announcing the couple. He played Sweet Caroline before the Greek wedding song (Zorbas dance). He also had the couple play the Mr and Mrs Game.

Speeches

For the speeches, I mainly covered the guest’s reactions. This is an important job for the second shooter, as the shots of your guests enjoying your day are something you will treasure.

I particularly enjoyed the best groom’s speech when he mentioned that he wished he’d known how expensive wedding photographers were before agreeing to get married. This was said right when Rob stood dead centre in front of everyone.

The father of the bride and best man both gave speeches which were short and sweet.

The couple had been kind enough to provide us with a meal. So as the wedding breakfast was served, we retired for our lunch.

Couple Portraits at Kendle Castle

The last thing to do before I headed home was to travel to Kendal Castle for some final portraits. The groom was several pints down by this point, but they were a great laugh and up for the walk to the castle.

I had a great day being a Castle Green wedding photographer and look forward to working there again.
