The Mere Wedding Photography & Video – Michael Townsend Photography

As a wedding photographer, my style is a mix of informal documentary coverage and relaxed and fun portraits, and The Mere is a great venue for this. The grounds aren’t immediately obvious as a backdrop for natural photos during the wedding reception, but there are lots of areas to use and the outdoor area is a great space for the guests to mix in the lovely fresh air and flattering natural light. I loved being able to capture some great wedding photos of the couple in the gardens and paths of this gorgeous wedding venue.

The Mere is a large luxury wedding venue in Knutsford with beautiful buildings and a lovely setting which boasts a lake and picturesque golf course. The food is good and the staff are helpful, there’s loads of parking and plenty of good places to shoot.

Sophie and Joe’s Wedding Photography at The Mere

Sophie and Joe booked me to photograph their wedding not that long ago. As some of their relatives were unable to attend, they really wanted my combined photography and video package. This is where I mainly take photos but also put up cameras for things like the ceremony and speeches. I also take video snippets throughout the day.

Sophie’s prep was at the Premier Inn in Wigan and their ceremony was at a nearby church, St Catherine’s. I caught some of Sophie’s prep which was mainly seen to by her lovely flower girl (with some help from her mum. From there I popped over to the church to set up my cameras and introduce myself to the vicar. She had very cool hair which you can see in the videos.

The ceremony went well then from there we headed over to The Mere for their wedding celebrations. We were lucky with the weather and it stopped raining for long enough to get out for some shots. After there was the wedding breakfast and speeches followed by the cake and the first dance. The first dance was great and they had clearly been busy practising.

First dance done, wanted to get a few more shots of just Sophie and Joe so we grabbed an umbrella and headed out into the rain with me hoping my speedlight wouldn’t die. It didn’t and I got the shots I wanted for them. Below you can see their highlights video and some of their photos, enjoy.
