A farmer and his wife and a meadow
Or, how the farmer got his wife.
Okay, I need to get this out the way before I get any further. The bride’s prep was in… Upperthong. I know, I know. My maturity level is showing. Still, gotta laugh.
The wedding itself was in Holmfirth at 11 am so I was with the bride from 9 am. I managed to find somewhere nearby to park, then walked to the house she was getting ready in. It was a beautiful big house with bags of character and large windows for plenty of light. That made my life a lot easier, so I said hi to everyone, including the filmography crew, and then got to work. They even provided bacon butties!
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place at St David’s church. The vicar was excellent and very accommodating, with plenty of room for the videographers, me and the second shooter, Richard to work without getting in each other’s way.
After the ceremony, we headed to a local reservoir for some couple shots, but due to the very dry weather, it was too empty and looked wrong in the shots, so we headed to their reception, which was a lovely marquee in a field. Very fitting, with David being a farmer.

The view from there was stunning, and the weather pleasant, so we got the group shots done and then headed in for speeches and the meal. There was a particularly beautiful moment when Lucy was presented with a picture of her father and his darts team, which had been on the wall at a local pub. He had passed away several years previously, so it was good that he could be with her in spirit, and I’m sure he would be proud of her.
The pictures Richard and I captured work together well and will help Lucy and David look back on their wedding and remember all that happened that day. From the singing waiters to the slightly late bride.
