I’ve photographed a few weddings at Sale Town Hall, but this one stands out from the rest. Let me explain…

A few weeks ago some friends of mine got in touch to see if I was available to photograph a wedding on the 28th of August at Sale Town Hall, Manchester. They came round for a chat and explained that it was a gift for his sister and her fiance.

Under normal circumstances, that would have been a no at such short notice during peak wedding season. This year though, my diary is pretty wide open. I got all the details and although I was booked for another couple, I said I’d see what I could do. At this point, fate intervened. The other couple phoned me that day to postpone until next year; so I happily phoned Mike with the good news. I took his email address and did the usual booking process through Studio Ninja.

Joanne and Alan’s wedding had been brought forward due to health reasons, so I was only required for the ceremony. I’d been in contact with the registrars and already knew I wouldn’t be allowed in the room for the ceremony. This presented some challenges but I overcame these with a bit of planning.

Sale Town Hall

On the day I drove over to Sale Town Hall for their wedding and parked up. I set up two video cameras in the ceremony room and recorded them in 4K. From there I was able to take stills and produce a video of the ceremony for them. The rest of the ceremony I had to shoot through the open doors of the room. I don’t think I’ve ever been more aware of how squeaky my shoes are lol.

Afterwards, Joanne, Alan and their son got a few shots inside then headed out for group photos. There was of course confetti and happy smiles all around.

The editing on such a short job didn’t take too long. They were ready before the presentation box even arrived. Time was an issue though so I passed them along on USB so that Joanne and Alan could enjoy them. I’m happy to tell you that they are very happy with there images, here are a selection:
